In Greek mythology, Circe (from the Ancient Greek « circe, » bird of prey) is a very powerful sorceress, described by Homer as « particularly skilled in the art of poisons and drugs, capable of performing metamorphoses. She assumes as many guises as she wears masks. Capable of changing form, nature or structure such as the object, to such an extent that her identity is no longer recognizable. »
